The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 13 Police Headquarters, Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has assumed duty as the 10th substantive AIG overseeing police operations in Anambra and Enugu States
He pledged to prioritise professionalism, intelligence-led policing and stronger community partnerships.
A release by the Zone 13 Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chidera Oha, said AIG Dantawaye assumed office following the retirement of his predecessor, AIG Godwin Iguh Eze, who exited the Nigeria Police Force after attaining the mandatory retirement age following a distinguished career in service.
In his maiden address to officers and personnel at the Zonal Headquarters, the new AIG expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his predecessor.
He assured officers, stakeholders and residents of the zone that his administration would be anchored on professionalism, discipline, intelligence-driven policing, respect for human rights and improved collaboration with other security agencies in tackling crime and criminality.
Dantawaye also charged personnel under his command to remain dedicated, disciplined and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, while ensuring effective service delivery and the protection of lives and property.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening public trust in policing through community engagement and strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
Born on October 15, 1971, in Ankpa, Kogi State, AIG Dantawaye enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on May 1, 2000.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies and has attended several professional and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria.
His professional trainings include the Civil-Military Cooperation Course at the National Defence College, the VVIP Protection Course in Israel, the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos, the Leadership Course at Shere Hills, Jos, and the Combat Operations Course in Gwoza.
Before his current appointment, AIG Dantawaye held several strategic positions within the Force, including Divisional Police Officer, Area Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Commissioner of Police in Kogi State and the Federal Capital Territory.
He also served as Commissioner of Police in Information Technology and ICT, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo States, Assistant Commissioner of Police in various capacities, and most recently, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Zone 13 Police Command, which comprises Anambra and Enugu States, reassured residents of its commitment to sustaining peace, maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and strengthening partnerships with communities in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
AIG Dantawaye, a member of Rotary International and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Bessie Dantawaye, and they are blessed with four children.
