Peter Obi Can Rescue Nigeria–POMR Replies Baba-Ahmed

The Peter Obi Media Reach, POMR, has responded to the assertion by Yusuf Baba-Ahmed that no individual, including Mr. Peter Obi, can rescue Nigeria from the depth it has sunk.

The POMR insisted that Obi can–and will–tackle the country’s challenges.

Baba-Ahmed had, in a recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye, expressed worry about the depth of the challenges facing Nigeria and stated that no single individual, including Obi, can rescue the nation.

However, the POMR, in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesman, Zekeri Idris, said Baba-Ahmed’s suggestion is understandable as an expression of frustration, but not a conclusion supported by the facts.

The POMR acknowledged that Nigeria is in a troubling situation, caused by years of mismanagement, corruption, waste, and poor leadership, which have weakened institutions and placed an enormous burden on citizens.

The POMR said because the problems are so serious, Nigerians need to distinguish between political promises and demonstrated capacity.

“Peter Obi does not approach Nigeria’s challenges as an experiment.

“His record in Anambra provides evidence of what he can do with limited resources when public office is treated as a responsibility rather than an opportunity for personal enrichment.

“He demonstrated fiscal discipline, prioritised education, healthcare, and human development, invested in critical infrastructure, reduced waste, and left behind a record that continues to be examined and debated long after he left office,” the POMR said.

Pointing out that the question is not whether one individual can magically rescue Nigeria can, the POMR said the critical question is whether Nigeria can elect a leader with the character, competence, prudence, and courage to begin the rescue.

“We believe Peter Obi can—and will.

“He will not do it alone. He will do it by building strong institutions, assembling competent Nigerians, confronting corruption, cutting waste, investing in production, and restoring confidence in government,” POMR said.

It further said that Nigeria does not need a fake messiah, bur needs leadership that understands that public money is public trust.

“Peter Obi has demonstrated that understanding before.

“The task in 2027 is to allow him to demonstrate it at the national level.

“So, yes, Nigeria can be rescued. And Peter Obi can lead that rescue — not because he claims to be a miracle worker, but because his record shows that he knows how to turn limited resources into measurable results.

“With O-K, Nigeria is rescueable,” POMR stated.
