The All Progressives Congress, APC, has presented its flag to Osborne Umahi, son of the of Works Minister, David Umahi, as its chairmanship candidate for the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, in the upcoming elections.
The party presented the flag to Umahi’s son at a mega campaign rally held in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Presenting the flag, the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, who was represented by his Deputy, Patricia Obila, noted that Osborne Umahi is capable of providing effective leadership in the area.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout of the people of Ohaozara at the rally and urged the party’s supporters to also demonstrate their support with the strength of their vote at the polls.

“I am happy with the large turnout today. I, present to you, Osborne Umahi as our party’s flag bearer for Ohaozara Local Government, in the Aug. 22 council elections,” he said.
He urged the people of Ebonyi State to vote for APC candidates in the council elections.
“I urge the electorate to vote massively for all APC chairmanship candidates across the 13 Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State and APC councillorship candidates in the 171 political wards in the state.
” I also commend the Minister of Works for his contributions to the development of our dear state, and his achievements at the national level,” the governor said.
Nwifuru further expressed confidence that the minister’s son would copy his father’s style of leadership and achievements in public service if elected to office.
The chairman of APC in the state, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, represented by his Deputy, Alphonsus Nwali, said he was confident in the party’s prospects in Ohaozara, adding that the area is an opposition-free zone.
He urged the electorate to demonstrate their support for the APC through massive turnout and votes on election day.
In a goodwill message, the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Grace Umezuruike, urged the electorate to vote for candidates that would consolidate the achievements of Governor Nwifuru’s administration.
She commended the Ohaozara people for their show of support for Umahi and urged them to remain committed to the party during and after the council
elections.
ln a remark, a former chairman of the Council, Nkechineyere Iyioku, observed that the massive turnout at the rally demonstrates the popularity of the APC and the people’s confidence in the state government.
She also cited the achievements of the Minister of Works, David Umahi as part of the reasons for the people’s support.
In an acceptance speech, the party’s flag bearer, Osborne Umahi thanked the people of Ohaozara for their support and pledged to provide inclusive and people-oriented governance if given their mandate.
He promised that, if elected, his administration would prioritise the interests of all communities and work toward the development of the local government.
