19-Year-Old Wife Poisons Husband 40 Days After Wedding.

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her husband about 40 days after their wedding.

Police said Aisha Musa allegedly laced her husband’s food with poisonous substance on August 12, 2026, in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Nafiu Habib, said the police received a distress call at about 7:40pm from an anonymous woman in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.

He said operatives attached to the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, immediately responded to the report and rushed the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

According to Habib, the victim was still receiving treatment and was in stable condition as of the time of the report.

The police spokesman said Musa was arrested shortly after the alleged poisoning and reportedly made a confession during interrogation.

He added that detectives recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, alongside remnants of the food allegedly contaminated by the suspect.

He said the items had been preserved as exhibits to aid the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Habib said the suspect would be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.

The Bauchi State Polive command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
