The All Progressives Congress,APC, has confirmed Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 general election.
This was announced on Friday after a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC,and party leaders in Abuja.
There had been speculations that Tinubu might drop Shettima and pick a different person as running mate.
Some analysts said the president might pick a northern Christian as running mate.
Among the names mentioned as Shettima’s replacement were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong.
However, the confirmation of Shettima on Friday ended the rumours.
Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Masari, presented both Tinubu’s and Shettima’s nomination forms to the APC leadership during the meeting.
