Gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, on Monday attacked a school in Borno State, and abducted students as they were writing the National Examination Council, NECO, senior school certificate examination.
The attack occurred at the Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of the State.
Spokesman of the Borno State Police Command, Kenneth Daso confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers fired sporadically as they burst into the school, where the students were abducted.
Some reports said a teacher was killed and another one wounded during the attack.
The number of students missing in the attacked has not been determined as the military, police and other security agencies were searching nearby forests to locate and rescue the students.
