2027: Group Condemns PDP’s Attack On Ebonyi State Government

A pro-good governance group, Ebonyi-First Vanguard, has condemned in strong terms, the recent attack by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Governor Francis Nwifuru’s  administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Director-General of the group, Mr. Monday Eze told a news conference on Thursday in Abakaliki that PDP, through one of its leading voices, Chika Nwoba,  is promoting sabotage against the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru.

The Group condemned what it described as “an inciting and unpatriotic call,” allegedly made by Chika Nwoba urging public office holders and citizens of Ebonyi State to work against the government.

According to Eze, the statement, which was credited to the former spokesman of PDP in the state, encourages acts that undermine the government, and public institutions in the state.

“Government is not a person or a political party. Government is the collective instrument through which roads are built, salaries are paid, hospitals function, and schools operate. Nwoba’s call is not opposition; it is a betrayal of the people,” Eze said.

Speading further, Eze  said,  “government financial transactions in Ebonyi State are conducted electronically, making claims of discrepancies in payments to elected ward councilors impossible.

“The funds were meant as valedictory empowerment to be reinjected into the local economy through farming, food production, and agribusiness. They were never intended for personal consumption.”

The group dismissed allegations reportedly levelled against the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Stephen Igwe, describing them as unfounded and politically motivated.

According to Hon. Eze, the training and empowerment program for counselors was designed to equip them with agribusiness skills and provide startup support after their tenure, rather than serve as personal financial benefits.

Eze noted that Governor Nwifuru’s achievements across critical sectors in Ebonyi State have already positioned him strongly ahead of any political contest.

He cited Governor Nwifuru’s revival of the overseas postgraduate scholarship program, payment of long-standing gratuity arrears, youth business grants, recruitment of people into the civil service, establishment of specialized universities, and investments in healthcare as typical of a people-oriented administration.

“Nwifuru’s achievements in infrastructure and human capital development speak louder than propaganda. These projects and programs are the foundation of the overwhelming support he enjoys across Ebonyi State,” he emphasised.
