An Oxford-trained entrepreneur and Labour Party flagbearer for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the 2027 general election, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, has warned that opposition political parties risk losing the 2027 general elections if they fail to form coalition.

Dr. Ezeh handed down the warning on Tuesday, while exchanging views with newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

He noted that the current structure of opposition politics in Nigeria is too fragmented to effectively challenge an incumbent government.

Dr. Ezeh, who also contested the same position in Labour Party in 2023, observed that no single opposition party in the country can defeat the rulling party alone.

He said, “I urge the opposition parties to embrace coalition politics and strategic
co-operation ahead of the polls, let them not risk failure in the forthcoming general elections. It is only broad-based alliance anchored on discipline, restructuring, and strategic cordination that can change our political equation in 2027.”

“Opposition politics must go beyond sentiment and internal wrangling.

“There must be hardcore strategic politics, where parties operate with clearer ideological direction and competitive intelligence.”

On the recent party primaries, the Labour Party stalwart said, “the exercise exposed the weaknesses of some opposition platforms, in their internal processes of candidates selection.”

This, according to him, “will continue to undermine credibility and public confidence, as flawed internal procedures cannot be justified by electoral convenience.”

Eze commended the government of Abia State under Governor Alex Otti, citing his style of governance as one that appreciates strategic alignment and functional political structures.

He maintained that failure of the opposition parties to adapt to prevailing political realities could leave them permanently disadvantaged in future elections.
