Electoral Commission Postpones Imo Council Polls

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, has postponed the Council elections earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 27, 2026 in the state.

The ISIEC announced this in a release signed by its Chairman, Chief Charles Okafor.

The Commission said the election was postponed because of circumstances beyond its control.

“While regretting the inconveniences this development has brought to bear on highly esteemed stakeholders and the general public, the Commission assures all and sundry that the ongoing consultation with our stakeholders, particularly the Inter-Party Advisory is aimed at arriving at an agreeable date for the elections within the shortest possible time,” ISIEC said.

The Commission did not announce a new date for the election.
