The 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Chief Uche Nnaji, has picked 49-year-old businessman and maritime entrepreneur, Chief Peter Chijioke Ugwu as his running mate.
Chief Ugwu, who is the third of the seven children of Elder Vincent and Late Mrs. Felicitas Ugwu, is from Umuezediko, Nguru Town, Nsukka Local Government Area.
He began his education at Community Primary School, Nguru, and proceeded to St. Theresa’s College, Nsukka, where he obtained the Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1993.
He studied philosophy at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, and bagged a Bachelors of Arts in 1999.
After the one-year compulsory National Youth Service, Chiji, as he is fondly called by his father and siblings, did not waste time looking for job. He joined the logistic sector in Lagos.
He founded the Windemol Maritime and Logistics Ltd, a freight forwarding company. Built on transparency, integrity and excellence, Windemol Ltd grew and within one year employed 10 graduates and five others.
He also established Sokabell Nigeria Ltd, dealing in contracting and consultancy services. This was followed by the setting up of Magik Stars Hospitality Nigeria Ltd.
The Enugu PDP deputy governorship candidate is Co-founder and Co-Director of the Felicitas Foundation, a family charity organisation established in memory of their late mother, Mrs. Felicitas Ugwu.
Chief Ugwu holds the chieftaincy title of Eweluchi Bube Uzo 1 of Nguru Nsukka, conferred on him by HRH, Igwe Linus Obayi of Nguru, Nsukka.
He is married to Chinonye Ugwu with whom he has four children.
