Modele Sarafa-Yusuf Resigns Her APC Membership.

Renowned broadcaster, Modele Sarafa-Yusuf Thursday announced her resignation of membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Sarafa-Yusuf had earlier in the year said she would contest the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State on the platform of the APC.

This week, the national headquarters of the APC reaffirmed Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the Ogun State governorship candidate of the party.

The party also dismissed Abayomi Hunye’s contrary claim amid an ongoing court challenge to the party’s primary.

Sarafa-Yusuf, who posted her resignation of Facebook, did not indicate if her decision was connected the crisis in the Ogun State chapter of the APC.

She said: “After an extended period of travelling and spending time with family and following much thought and quiet reflection, I have decided to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Today, I informed the leadership of the party in Ogun state and sent in my resignation letter.

“My time in the APC has been an important part of my political journey, and I am grateful for the people I have met, the relationships I have built and the experiences that have shaped my understanding of public service and leadership.

“However, there comes a time when one must have the courage to reassess one’s path.

“At this point in my journey, I believe it is important to consider carefully how best I can continue to contribute to Ogun State and Nigeria, and I am comfortable taking the time to make that decision thoughtfully.”

Sarafa-Yusuf, however, said her resignation did not mean that she would move away from public service.

“What I know with certainty is that my commitment to public service remains undiminished and that I will continue to be guided by the same values that brought me into public life in the first place: service, integrity, inclusion, competence, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

“It is, therefore, important to reiterate that I am not stepping away from public service. I am taking the next step in the journey.

“And sometimes, moving forward requires giving oneself the space to reflect, to listen, and to decide with clarity where one truly wants to go,” she said.

She stated that she would return to professional and business commitments after her leave.

“In the meantime, I will return to my professional and business commitments after my holiday, while I take time to determine the form that the next phase of my political engagement will take.

“I wish the APC and all those within the party well,” she said.
