The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, will win in all 13 Local Government Areas of state in the local government elections billed for this weekend.

Senator Nwebonyi made the assertion at the Grand Finale of the APC campaign rally in Iboko, Headquarters of Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He urged the people to vote for the chairmanship candidate of APC for Izzi Local Government Area, Mrs Helen Aduga, adding that the party’s popularity was a reflection of the performance of the state government, under Governor Francis Nwifuru.

He said: “I feel good, because the APC is in charge, so I feel great. If you watch the environment, you will see that the APC is really in charge, not just in Izzi local government but in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.”

Continuing, Nwebonyi said, “the growing support for the APC in Ebonyi State is because of the achievements of Governor Nwifuru, who is a true son Izzi.

“Everybody is clamouring for APC, because of the performance of our leader, the governor of Ebonyi State, who happens to be an Izzi son.”

He noted that Izzi is the most populous clan in the state, pointing out that the clan had a significant role to play in the political future of Ebonyi State.

The senator said he was confident that the APC would win all 13 local government areas in the election and also retain the governorship position in next year’s governorship election.

“We believe that the governor and APC are in charge, will win this local government election 13 over 13, and will win the next general election 100 %, because of what he has done,” Nwebonyi emphasised.

The senator charged elected officials to complement the efforts of the state government, by prioritising the needs of the people.

Senator Nwebonyi listed his intervention programmes since he was elected to the Senate.

This includes the distribution 150 motorcycles and cars to constituents, construction of over 12 kilometres of concrete roads in the constituency and
building of over 65 houses for the less privileged in the area.

He added that he had also awarded scholarships to more than 900 indigent students from Ebonyi North Senatorial District.

He expressed confidence in Mrs Aduga, and urged her to consolidate on the
achievements of her predecessor.

The Senate Deputy Chip Whip noted that the outgoing chairman, Chief Stephen Nwamkpa had also implemented several rural development projects, including roads and water schemes, and expressed the hope that if elected, Mrs Aduga would perform creditably.

The event, which marked the end of the APC’s 2026 local government campaign rallies in Ebonyi State, recorded an impressive turn out.
