Jezco Chairman, Ezeokafor, Regains Freedom.

The abducted Chairman of Jezco Oil, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor has regained his freedom.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the release of Chief Ezeokafor and a Rev. Sister who were abducted by armed men in Ifite-Awka.

The two victims have safely returned, according to the command.

The command confirmed their release on Friday, August 15, 2026, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu.

“The Command confirms that today, 15th August 2026, Chief J. J. Ezeokafor and a Rev. Sister, who were earlier abducted by armed criminals at Ifite-Awka, have been released and have safely returned,” the statement said.

The police said they were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the safe return of the victims and ordered the intensification of intelligence-led operations to track down and arrest the perpetrators.

The command said the manhunt was being carried out by a joint task force comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agunechemba security operatives and other relevant security agencies.

The command appreciated members of the public for their support and cooperation during the period.

It further urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in apprehending those responsible for the abduction.

The abductors of Chief Ezeokafor had demanded a ransome of N700 million, which they later increased to N1.5billion.

Details of the final amount agreed upon, including whether the full sum was paid before or after his release, were not immediately available.

His release has brought relief to his family, friends, business associates and well-wishers, following widespread concern over his abduction across Anambra State and beyond.
